Windy Weather

I decided to do a perspective lesson with the second graders.  They were to imagine they were in a Dr. Seuss world in the middle of a rain storm.  Their whole neighborhood was in a tizzy, everything blowing from left to right.  They were to draw this scene from their minds.  I thought they turned out great!  Their drawings turned out just like something from Dr. Seuss's world.

A Line Study

We learned all about lines in first grade this week.  They tested out their new found knowledge with this project.

Pink Piggies

Kindergarteners learned how to use basic shapes like circles, triangles, ovals, and rectangles to create fun little pigs.  They also used their printmaking skills by using sponges to create texture on the grass.  They really had a blast with this project.

I Love This Project.

The third graders practiced blending colors and using complimentary colors to create these lovely pieces of art.  To top it off, they added a lovely gold border, just as if it were to hang in an art museum someday.

Printing to Kandinsky

Second Graders experimented with printmaking by squirting paint onto a paper plate and placing it on their papers.  Then they twisted it in a circular motion, lifted it very carefully, and "oohed and awwed" over what they discovered.

A Color Experiment.

One of the first projects I did with Kindergarten was this one.  They were to cover their papers completely with paint, but they weren't allowed to paint with a color that came straight out of a bottle.  They had to mix it first.  Some of them already had an idea of what would happen when you'd mix certain colors, but it was very enlightening to see them learn it for themselves as they experimented.  At first I was going to use these projects to cut up and use towards another one, but after they were finished I couldn't bear to do it.   I love how they turned out.
